The best Instagram unfollower trackers, compared

There's no single best unfollower tracker. There are three kinds, and the right one depends on what you're willing to connect: nothing, your own data export, or your Instagram login. Here are ten trackers compared on exactly that, with a one-line verdict for each.

Full disclosure: UnfollowersTrack is our product, so it's first on our own list. After it, tools are grouped by what they ask of your Instagram account (nothing, your data export, then an Instagram sign-in) and listed alphabetically within each group. We don't score competitors against each other, and "When another tracker is the better pick" below spells out where they beat us.

How we picked and ordered these trackers

This list covers UnfollowersTrack and nine other unfollower trackers, each of which also has its own side-by-side comparison with us. Every competitor fact here comes from that tool's own website, pricing page or App Store and Google Play listing, checked on October 9, 2026, not from other review sites. We don't log in to competitor apps with real Instagram accounts, we don't take payment for placement, and we don't use affiliate links.

UnfollowersTrack is our product, and it's first. After it, tools are grouped by what they ask of your Instagram account (nothing, your own data export, or an Instagram sign-in) and listed alphabetically inside each group. Because we haven't tested competitors hands-on, we don't rank them against each other.

What it asks for

An Instagram sign-in, an upload of the data export Instagram gives you, or only a public @username.

Whose account it covers

Your own account only, or other public accounts as well.

How it finds unfollowers

Instagram doesn't tell you who unfollowed, so trackers compare an earlier follower list with a later one, and none can show unfollows from before its first list.

What it costs to see the answer

Many free tiers show only a sample or a few names. We note what's free and what's paid as each tool listed it on October 9, 2026.

Three ways unfollower trackers work

Pick the method before the brand. Each one trades something different for the answer:

Public-profile scans: no login

UnfollowersTrack, Dolphin Radar and IGDetective read what a public profile already shows anyone, so there's nothing to connect and they can check public accounts that aren't yours. The trade-offs: private profiles are out of reach, and changes only show up between the tool's own checks.

Data-export tools: no password

DontFollowBack, FANS, FollowBuddy and Unfollr read the file from Instagram's own data download, so you never give them your Instagram password. The trade-offs: they cover only your own account, and every update means requesting and uploading a fresh export.

Signed-in apps: your Instagram login

Followers & Unfollowers, FollowMeter and Reports+ connect to your Instagram account inside the app for day-to-day tracking and extra analytics. The trade-off: you're trusting a third-party developer with your Instagram sign-in, so read its privacy policy first.

When another tracker is the better pick

An honest list says where we lose. If one of these describes you, choose the alternative:

Your account is private

UnfollowersTrack, like every public-profile scanner, can't read a private account. Export tools work from your own data instead; FANS, for example, says it supports public and private accounts alike.

UnfollowersTrack vs FANS

You want an app on your home screen

Signed-in apps like FollowMeter and Reports+, or FANS without a password, live on your phone. From us, the Lurke companion app is the native option, with optional Pro alerts after a completed scan finds a change.

See the Lurke app

You want the tracker to unfollow people for you

Followers & Unfollowers lists mass unfollow among its features. UnfollowersTrack never acts on your account: you do any unfollowing yourself in Instagram.

UnfollowersTrack vs Followers & Unfollowers

Your profile has more than 20,000 followers or following

Our scans support public profiles up to 20,000 followers or following, so a larger account needs a different tool. Check each alternative's own limits before you pay.

You only need a one-off check

DontFollowBack sells a single $3.00 report from your export with no subscription. UnfollowersTrack's full scans and history come with a subscription.

UnfollowersTrack vs DontFollowBack

You want likes, comments or Stories too

Activity monitors go beyond follower lists: IGDetective tracks likes, comments and Stories on public accounts, and Snoopreport sends weekly or monthly reports of what an account likes and follows.

Also compared: tools built for a different job

Two tools often appear in unfollower-app lists but answer different questions, so they aren't in the list above:

Snoopreport: an activity monitor

Snoopreport reports the likes and follows a public account makes, weekly or monthly, on the web and iOS. It needs an email account and a paid plan (from $4.99 a month, no free trial).

UnfollowersTrack vs Snoopreport

InsTrack: analytics for Professional accounts

InsTrack (instrack.app) covers Professional accounts only, yours or others', with follower-count change alerts, competitor and hashtag tracking and a scheduler. Its iOS app uses Facebook login; its web dashboard uses an email sign-up, and its Premium plan costs $1 per tracked account a month.

What no unfollower tracker can do

See a private account from the outside

A private account's follower list isn't public. Public-profile scanners, ours included, can't read it, and export tools only read your own data.

Show unfollows from before it started

Trackers compare an earlier follower list with a later one, so history starts with the first list they have. With UnfollowersTrack, that's your first completed subscribed full scan.

Date an unfollow from public data or an export to the minute

Scans and export comparisons date a change by the check that found it, not by when it happened. IGDetective, for example, dates follows by the day it first saw them.

Step by step

How to check unfollowers without an app or login

1

Enter a public @username

Open unfollowerstrack.com in any browser and enter a public @username with no more than 20,000 followers or following: yours, or a public profile you're researching. Nothing to install and no Instagram login.

2

Review the free preview

The free preview samples the profile's current public follower and following lists. On its own, it doesn't show who unfollowed.

3

Subscribe and scan again

A completed subscribed full scan sets the baseline; later completed full scans show who unfollowed between those checks.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the best Instagram unfollower tracker?
It depends on what you're willing to connect. If you want nothing to install and no login, UnfollowersTrack (our product) scans public profiles with no more than 20,000 followers or following in your browser. If you'd rather work from your own data without giving a password, export tools like DontFollowBack, FANS, FollowBuddy and Unfollr read the file Instagram gives you. If you want a native app and are fine signing in with Instagram, Followers & Unfollowers, FollowMeter and Reports+ are the established options.
What's the best free unfollower app for Instagram?
Few free tiers show the whole list. UnfollowersTrack's free preview samples a profile's current lists; FollowBuddy's free Lite tier shows 3 accounts that don't follow you back; DontFollowBack previews up to 10 records; Unfollr's free plan covers one account and two snapshots; and FANS says revealing all unfollowers needs Pro. Followers & Unfollowers, FollowMeter and Reports+ are free to install with ads and sell upgrades inside the app. That's as each tool listed it on October 9, 2026.
Do unfollower apps need my Instagram password?
Signed-in apps do: Followers & Unfollowers and FollowMeter ask you to sign in with Instagram, and Reports+ uses Instagram's own web login inside the app. Export tools (DontFollowBack, FANS, FollowBuddy and Unfollr) don't; you upload the data file Instagram gives you instead. Public-profile scanners (UnfollowersTrack, Dolphin Radar and IGDetective) don't either; they work from a public @username.
Are Instagram unfollower trackers safe?
We don't give safety verdicts on other tools, so check what each one asks for before you start. UnfollowersTrack never asks for your Instagram password or access to your account; it reads public profile data. Export tools never see your password; they read the file you give them, so check whether they process it on your device or upload it to their servers. Signed-in apps connect to your Instagram account, so read their privacy policy before you sign in.
Can any tracker show who unfollowed a private account?
Not from the outside. A private account's follower list isn't public, so public-profile scanners, ours included, can't read it. Export tools and signed-in apps can show changes on your own private account, because they work from your own data.
Can a tracker show who unfollowed me before I started using it?
No. Instagram doesn't tell you who unfollowed, so trackers compare an earlier follower list with a later one, and the earliest list is the first one they saw. With UnfollowersTrack, that's your first completed subscribed full scan.
Do unfollower trackers update in real time?
UnfollowersTrack doesn't: it shows changes when a completed scan runs. Other tools describe their own schedules. Dolphin Radar's Guardian reports update weekly, IGDetective checks tracked accounts daily, and Snoopreport sends weekly or monthly reports. Some signed-in apps, like FollowMeter, describe their updates as real time.
Why is UnfollowersTrack first on this list?
Because it's our product, and we say so on every ranked page. To keep the list useful, every other tool's facts come from its own site and store listing, the tools are grouped by how they work rather than scored against each other, and the section on when another tracker is the better pick spells out where they beat us.
