How we test and verify what we publish

Last reviewed: July 9, 2026

Why this page exists

UnfollowersTrack publishes comparison pages that stack our product against other Instagram trackers — and yes, we rank ourselves first on our own lists. That only works if we hold ourselves to a method you can check. This page is that method. It's linked from the disclaimer on every comparison page and every “best of” page we publish.

How we verify competitor claims

Every factual claim we make about another app is checked against live public sources: its App Store or Google Play listing, its own website and pricing page, and its published documentation. We check these sources directly, at the time of writing — not from other blogs, old reviews, or memory.

Every verification is dated. Comparison pages tell you when the facts were last checked (“as of July 2026”, “last verified July 2026”), so you know exactly how fresh a claim is.

And if we can't verify something, we leave it out. You won't find user counts, ratings, or feature claims on our pages that we couldn't confirm from a public source. We'd rather publish a shorter table than a padded one.

One thing we don't do: we don't log into competitor apps with real Instagram accounts. Our comparisons are built from what each app publicly says about itself and what its store listings show — which is also why every page says so, right under the table.

How often we re-check

Apps change — pricing moves, features ship, login models get overhauled. We re-verify our comparison pages roughly every three months against the same live sources. When a competitor has changed, we update the claim and the verification date together. If you report an error between reviews, we don't wait for the next cycle — see Corrections below.

How we describe our own product

We apply stricter rules to ourselves than to anyone else:

  • UnfollowersTrack is scan-based. A scan shows a profile's recent public follow activity. Unfollows are detected at your next scan, by comparing it against your first. History builds from your first scan onward. We never claim “real-time” or “instant” detection, because that's not how it works.
  • We only analyze public profile data. We never ask for your Instagram password, and we never claim access to private data — no tool can honestly claim that.
  • UnfollowersTrack is a web tool that runs in your browser. We never present it as a native iOS or Android app.

How rankings on our “best” pages are decided

Full disclosure: UnfollowersTrack is our product, so it tops our own lists — and every ranked page says so on the page itself. To keep those lists genuinely useful, every one of them also includes a section on where the other tools win: real situations where a competitor is the better pick. We don't take payment for placement, and we don't use affiliate links to the tools we rank.

Corrections

If anything on this site is wrong — about a competitor, about our own product, or in a blog post — email support@unfollowerstrack.com with the subject “Correction”, or reach us through our contact page. We reply within 24 hours. When a claim checks out as wrong, we fix the page and refresh its verification date. Being corrected costs us nothing; publishing stale claims costs you trust.

Not affiliated with Instagram or anyone we compare

UnfollowersTrack is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Instagram or Meta Platforms, Inc. The apps we compare are independent products made by other companies, and all product names are trademarks of their respective owners.

Who writes and maintains this

This site is researched, written, and maintained by the UnfollowersTrack team — the same people who build and run the product. Every comparison is reviewed before publishing and again at each quarterly re-check.
